"Can't Cancel Jazz" is a pop-up jazz show and community rally created by New York musician and promoter Gengis Don (Lyndon Harewood). It is not a subscription or service that you can log into and cancel. The event was quickly organized in August 2026 as a direct response to the sudden, opening-day collapse of the massive L.A. Jazz Festival. When that major festival fell through due to municipal costs and public safety issues, Gengis Don teamed up with local organizations like JIJI's Jazz Club and Fresh Sounds LA to launch a spontaneous, intimate underground concert series. The movement took its name from the defiant statement that while a corporate festival can fall apart, you "Can't Cancel Jazz" as a community art form. The main event was hosted as a $20 pop-up show at the Slow Jamz Gallery in downtown Los Angeles to support the displaced musicians and vendors who lost work from the festival's failure
